After the angel Gabriel delivered
the pronouncement of the pending birth of the
holy child, Jesus (which is God's “Yes”); His Word made flesh; Mary's
“Amen,” before the Lord, was “Be it unto me according
to (Your) Word.” In other words, “Yes, Lord,” do the work necessary.
[Luke 1:38; Pastor]
Then, Joseph (mary's
betrothed/engaged) had to be reassured of God's plan for the house of David.
So, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him, saying, “Joseph,
thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is
conceieved in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and
thou shalt call His name JESUS: for He shall deliver His people from their
sins.” [Matthew 1:20-21]
Joseph's response was
very much like Abraham's, when, “being raised up from sleep (Joseph) did as the angel of the Lord had
bidden him, and took unto him his wife: and knew her not til she had brought
forth her firstborn son ...JESUS.” [Matthew 1:24-25]
Both of these senarios
reflect how the Word of the Lord not only says something, but does something,
when mixed with faith in the hearer. [Pastor]
